Wellness Wednesday: Cell Phone – Master or Tool?
by Tania and the thinkThin® team
Many behavioral habits sort us into groups; early morning people, mayo-on-the-side people, boxers vs. briefs people and those who take the stairs over the elevator. Most recently we get to see those who can leave their cell phone at home and those who have to be attached to then at all times. Sometimes I pass people on a walking trail chatting on their cell phones, or I watch parents with strollers or in the park with their children who spend the entire outing talking on their phones. Is this multitasking, or is this missing the point of the activity?
Cell phones are a truly fantastic technological innovation – no doubt, but are they a tool or must they be obeyed at all times?
I like to sometimes show my phone who is the boss. I have no problem switching it to plane mode, even when there is no aircraft in sight and I can hear it ring and not pick it up if I am in the middle of a conversation with someone else.
Last weekend prior to leaving for a walk in my neighborhood I reached over to pick up my phone and noticed a thinkThin® bar next to it, they are about the same size – both hand held. The choice was simple, I left the phone and took the bar. The walk was fine.
