The First Annual Metropolitan Fashion Week Presented by thinkThin, is a three day event taking place on March 24, 29, and 31, 2012 which is designed to share the message that ‘Yes’, we do have talented fashion designers, who create and work in Bellevue and Seattle, WA.

Executive Producer Eduardo Khawam’s vision for this new annual fashion event is, “to create a platform for our local and elite fashion designers to present their collections to the regional and international media, buyers, shoppers and fashionistas.” All of the fashion collections that will be presented have been created exclusively for Metropolitan  Fashion Week 2012.

Metropolitan Fashion week will open on Saturday, March 24 at Lexus of Bellevue (101 116th Ave. SE) with a cocktail party presented by Blue Martini in the thinkThin VIP lounge with a fashion show with the theme LFA-552hp A New Definition. The following fashion designers will showcase their new collections in a high-energy paced runway presentation: Devon Yan-Berrong; Gingerlyn Bellus; Morgan Carson; Andrea Voss; Deyonte’ Weather; Julius Leano; Julie Danforth; Laksmi Mckenna; Marta Kappl; Sharon Donohoe Gillin; Masha Osoianu; Canine designer Laura Costanzo; Shoe designer Cat de Montjoye; and Hat designer Carol Campbell. Thursday, March 29, Metropolitan Fashion Week will present the thinkThin & Google Places Fashion Party at 6:00 pm. This FREE cocktail event is being hosted at the trendy and newly opened Blue Martini, located at The Bravern (700 110th Ave. NE) in downtown Bellevue. This will be the perfect venue for networking with the designers, store buyers, press, and those who love fashion.

Metropolitan Fashion Week’s extravagant Black-Tie Closing Gala promises to also be a memorable evening. The fashion runway show and industry awards ceremony Come Fly with Me will take place on Saturday, March 31 in an aviation setting at The Museum of Flight (9404 E Marginal Way S. Seattle). Los Angeles based fashion designer DAVID TUPAZ is the presenting designer and will showcase his current collection. David is known for his eclectic style and creative energy on American Couture. David Tupaz has been referred to as one of America’s most promising fashion trend-setters, and dresses celebs from Kris Kardashian and actress Leslie Ann Huff to Liz Shatner and Tracey Hamilton, to name a few.

Local fashion designers who will be showcasing their new collections in a high-style production walking on the Gene Juarez Salons & Spas Runway are: Corban Harper, 2012 winner of Project Red Dress; Irina Turner; Kathy-Sabin Mensah; Nicole van der Bogert; Olga Szwed; Jewelry Designer Lane Bueche; and Shoe Designer Lina Zeineddine. The 5th Annual Forbidden Fashion Show will make its debut this night and grace the runway with ADICORA Swimwear created by fashion designer Niveen Heaton; jewelry created by Beto Yarce; Toad Lillie lingerie created by Laurie Shapiro presented by Bellefleur Lingerie, and men’s underwear and swimwear presented by UnderU4Men.

The Fashion Awards Ceremony will follow the fashion runway presentation. Local Award Winning Couture Designer Luly Yang will be awarded the 2012 Excellence Award. The 2012 Life Achievement Award will go to Monir Zandghoreishi, creator of Project Red Dress and Program Chair for the Fashion Design & Merchandising Programs at the International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT). The 2012 Forbidden Fashion Show Excellence Award will go to Photographer Jorge Hernandez.

No proper runway event is complete without a photographer. Therefore, Turkphotos will be on hand capturing all of the flawless couture designs, chic ambiance, and elite attendees on the VERIZON Wireless Red Carpet and on the runway. Gene Juarez Salons & Spas will work collectively in creating the hair and makeup artistry for the runway models for both fashion shows.
