Living Wellness: Staycation
Getting away by staying at home
The away weekend; romantic, adventurous, serene or other well-earned getaway is often a faraway dream thwarted by logistics, budget or time constraints. Apart from missing the pleasure of such trips, we also miss the opportunity to recharge batteries and our outlook. Let’s face it, getting away is a necessary thing.
Plan B
So is that it? You are just giving up on the idea? We say no! Put your thinking cap on a get some options going. We have put together a few scenarios for staying at home and getting away from routine.
The packed itinerary
If it is boredom or a lack of action that ails you, create a jammed itinerary for yourself starting on Friday evening and blasting through the weekend. Include meeting friends –especially favorite people who you haven’t seen for a while. Eat out (even if that means a picnic and a Frisbee in the park). Get up early, stay up late. Visit parts of your town or city that you have never been to. Take in a movie, theatre, or sporting event. Make sure that you wear at least three different types of outfits over the weekend; casual, active wear and sassy stuff!
Flirty Friday and onwards
If you have a significant other who you would rather be heading to Fiji with, your task should be to stay at home and have an extraordinary time. Spend well on food, wine, candles and try to think beyond getting a movie in! Don’t just have wine – mix cocktails. Check out our drink recipes. If you are going out, dress up and find somewhere with dancing. Make an effort!
A change of scenery
You can probably find something entirely different that is only a car, train or subway ride away. A sunrise or sunset event can provide a new experience. Learning something is also fun; fly fishing, surfing, skeet shooting, salsa dancing or hang gliding. Add on and let us know how the new you turns out.
